Genes which discourages you from drinking found by scientists

Do u Feel discouraged by yourself when it comes to drinking ?? Then it may be in our genes.

A gene that plays an indirect role in preventing some people from becoming alcoholics has been identified for the first time.

Researchers from University of North Carolina have found out the gene, called CYP2E1, which is indirectly responsible for the protective effect for 10 to 20 per cent of the population.

The gene, they said, codes for an enzyme that breaks down ethanol-- the intoxicating agent in alcoholic beverages -- and other toxins in the brain, LiveScience reported.

Scientist finds genes linked to Humans Height

Scientists have stumbled on genes which help explain why some people tower over others even as some struggle to attain five feet.

While obesity is caused by a mix of genetic and environmental factors, about 80 per cent of variation in human height is determined by genes.

Now researchers have identified hundreds of mutations that account for about 10 per cent of the inherited difference in height among people, reports the Daily Mail.

Study leader, Professor Joel Hirschhorn of the Harvard Medical School in the US, said: "Height clearly has a lot to do with genetics. Shorter parents tend to have shorter children, and taller parents tend to have taller children.
